If I were to dissect Spencer's vocal mix here in order to replicate this vocal sound by myself, here's what I would put in order: (PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME HERE, I AM NOT AN EXPERT BY ANY MEANS, also I am considering all the analog gear he uses before hitting the DAW in the chain) 1. Corrective/Subtractive EQ 2. COMPRESSION (FAST ATTACK for sure, listen to all that saturation, CLA-76?) 3. ANOTHER COMPRESSOR (LA-7A here?) 4. DEFINITELY ONE MORE COMPRESSOR (listen to squashed yet clear those high belts sound) 4. Some sort of Saturator (use anyone of your choice, to really bring out those harmonics, you can clearly hear them during the main chorus and also that F#5 High Note when it fades away into that reverb tail) 5. PLATE REVERB BUS/SEND 6. I've seen the argument that this record is overproduced, and no matter what camp you fall under, we get something that once isolated, makes Dracul Gras feel like a doo-wop quartet and I'm all for it.
